When a family invites Blues Cleaners into their home, they're not just hiring a cleaning service. They're opening the door to their most private space often at the most vulnerable moment of their lives and trusting that the people who walk through it will treat everything inside with the care it deserves.

That level of trust is not something we take lightly. Which is why who we bring onto this team, and how we prepare them to show up in those moments, is one of the most deliberate things we do.

It Starts Before the First Interview

Most hiring processes ask candidates what they can do. We spend just as much time trying to understand who they are. Technical skills in this work can be taught. Character cannot.

Every prospective team member goes through a full background check before anything else. That's a baseline expectation, not a differentiator but it matters to say clearly because families deserve to know it happens without having to ask. Beyond the background check, we look closely at how a person has handled other people in the past, particularly people who were going through something difficult. A record of patience, steadiness, and genuine regard for others tells us far more than a resume ever could.

We ask questions in our process that most cleaning companies never think to ask: How do you respond when someone is upset and it has nothing to do with you? What do you do when a situation feels emotionally heavy and you still have work to complete? Have you ever had to slow down to make someone feel at ease and did you? The answers matter. The instincts behind the answers matter even more.

We understand that we may walk into situations that are already difficult for others. That means our job is never to add to that difficulty not by our words, not by our pace, not by our presence.

The Training That Every Team Member Receives

Once someone joins the Blues Cleaners team, the real preparation begins. Over the course of 2026, we have been building out a structured development program specifically designed for the kind of work we do. It covers the technical, the professional, and the deeply human.

🦺

OSHA 10-Hour Certification

Every team member completes OSHA 10-hour training establishing a foundation of workplace safety standards that applies across every environment we enter, including homes with health-related conditions or compromised spaces.

🧹

Janitorial & Cleaning Coursework

Online certification courses in professional cleaning and janitorial technique ensure that the physical standard of work meets a consistent, verifiable level not just experience or habit.

🤝

Customer Relationship Training

Coursework specifically focused on how to communicate with clients, manage expectations, de-escalate tension, and show up with professionalism in moments that feel anything but routine.

💛

Situational Awareness & Sensitivity

Developed in-house and ongoing throughout 2026, this training addresses the specific emotional dynamics of life transition work how to read a room, when to speak and when to be quiet, and how to remain focused without being cold.

This isn't a one-time orientation. It's an ongoing investment in the people who represent Blues Cleaners in someone's home. As the program continues to develop, new modules are being added that reflect the real situations our team encounters on the job because the best training is always informed by the actual work.

Character Is the Standard, Not Just Certification

Certifications matter. Background checks matter. But neither of those things guarantees that someone will handle a grieving widow with patience, or notice that an older gentleman seems unsettled and pause to check in before continuing without being asked.

That kind of awareness is harder to teach and impossible to fake. It's why character sits at the center of everything we look for in this team.

Why We Don't Just Send Anyone

The families who call Blues Cleaners are not calling because they need a routine cleaning. They're calling because something significant has happened, and they need people in their home they can genuinely trust. That means we cannot and will not simply send whoever is available that day.

The Standard We Hold Ourselves To

Before any team is assembled for a life transition project, we consider the specific situation: who the client is, what they're going through, and which team members are the right fit for that particular day and that particular family.

This is why our care coordinator is present on every job not just to manage the work, but to ensure that the people doing it are showing up in a way that honors the trust the family has placed in us.

We are building something here that the Quad Cities hasn't had before a team of people who are not just trained to clean, but trained to show up with integrity in the moments that matter most. That takes time, intention, and a standard that doesn't get compromised for the sake of convenience.

The families we serve deserve that standard. And the people we hire are expected to meet it, every single time.

You deserve to know who's coming into your home.

Our Compass Visit is where we introduce ourselves, answer your questions, and give you the chance to feel confident about the team before anyone shows up on day one.
